Head lice can survive off a childs head for up to 2 days. The eggs (nits) take up to 10 days to hatch and will be real hungry and looking for a host.
When hairs fall of of the head into hats, brushes, and clothing, the lice will attach onto whomever it comes in contact with.
To avoid exposure to head lice, teach your children to not share brushes, combs, or hats with other children. This will greatly reduce the risk of infection.
