Why Are Store Brands Becoming Ineffective?

Like antibiotic-resistant bacteria, lice have been treated with the same chemicals for such an extended period that most strains of head lice have developed a resistance to common pesticide-based treatments. These resistant strains are known as “Super Lice.” When combined with the very real possibility of your child having a reaction or becoming ill from exposure to these pesticides, this lessened affect makes the need for natural alternatives all the more important.

The Spring, 1996 issue of the National Pediculosis Association’s (NPA) Progress noted that for the past year the NPA has been averaging 50 calls a day reporting commercial product treatment failure. In spite of this, kerosene and other dangerous chemicals, such as Lindane (a poison that has been banned in 18 countries and severely restricted in 10 others), are still widely used in lice treatments.
